The beautiful Budapest has been on my list for a long time & I was finally able to explore the pretty city in the Autumn of 2018.

This blogpost is part II of my Europe tale & covers Budapest & Prague. If you haven't read the first part yet, go on and have a quick read after this post. I promise it’s as exciting as this one :)

Popular for its nightlife, Budapest doesn't disappoint in terms of its charming architecture.
Buda Castle

I love this place! Situated in the Old Town on a hill, the Buda Castle offers a breathtaking view of Pest (New Town) below.

Take a stroll around its architecture or slow down and unwind over a vino or ice-cream at the rooftop Cafe Terasz, you are sure to find it your happy place!

You can reach Buda Castle by cable cars or rides offered at the exit of the Buda & Pest bridge. If you are adventurous enough, take a walk up the hill-top!

Fisherman’s Bastion
This absolute beauty is not to be missed! One of the top attractions in Budapest, the Fisherman’s Bastion was one of the other buildings constructed to celebrate the 1000th birthday of the Hungarian state. Today, it grants a delightful panorama of the city.

Shoes on the Danube Bank
As you head towards the river that separates Buda & Pest, you will find around 60 life-sized shoes laying at its bank.
It is a tribute to the Jews who were forced to remove their shoes only to be shot at the edge of the water where their bodies would float in the river and be carried away during the dire times of World War II.

St. Stephen’s Basilica
I am always in awe of Europe’s churches & cathedrals. The architecture in these buildings leaves me speechless. While at the same time, gives me a sense of peace.

I loved the street leading up to the Basilica..with every step, the Basilica would gradually unveil itself in its full form.
After checking this off my list, I spent our much-deserved vacation with my girls in one of the many restaurants at its busy street - drinking, eating, talking and well just enjoying the busy sight of the tourists & locals passing by.
Parliament of Budapest

The iconic place in Budapest, found in most postcards, the Hungarian Parliament Building doesn’t really need any introduction. Built in Gothic style, it is the largest building in Hungary & a portion of it is opened for the public.

Spending our last night at the bank of River Danube with a fantastic view of the lit up Parliament Building at one side & Buda Castle & Danube Bridge on the other was the perfect end to our stay in Budapest.

Being in Prague made me feel like I was put right in a postcard. A picturesque city, Praha is just mesmerising.
Old Town Square
I believe a lot can be gauged about a city from its streets.

One of the most happening places in Prague, Old Town Square is filled with tourists from all around the world, great cafes & restaurants, street performers & many sights. This was my favourite place to be in Prague!

Garden on the Ramparts at the Prague Castle
Well, one does not generally miss the key attractions so I guess it will be silly of me to emphasise a ‘must-see’ for the Prague Castle. Nevertheless, if you are like me & the long waiting queues scare you from visiting a particular attraction, then let me recommend a walk in the Castle Garden.

Being a popular shoot location for many movies, the Garden on the Ramparts is quite worthy of a walk with a scenic view of the “red-bricks” like city.
Charles Bridge
I find Charles Bridge quite charming. Amidst the hustle bustle of tourists and hawkers, I found some kind of peace just standing & overlooking the beautiful Prague Castle & the beautiful architecture the Bridge is outlined with.

You can even try out the boat restaurants near it to enjoy the view of the bridge with some delicious food!
Lennon Wall
Lennon Wall was a result of the famous Beatles musician, John Lennon’s assassination in 1980. Lennon’s face was painted as a protest opposite the French Embassy which led to many more Beatles inspired graffiti by the Prague youth.
Ever since, it has been a popular attraction amongst Lennon fans & artists to display their art & voice their opinions.

Food & Drinks
I personally think it would be unfair to end this blogpost without mentioning the yummy food I was lucky enough to taste in Europe. So here is a small peak at all the deliciousness awaiting you for when you plan a trip to this heavenly place...
